Chemistry Teacher
Tara High School is seeking an innovative and energetic educator to teach Chemistry. The position is short-term. The chemistry teacher would be responsible for teaching the following three week blocks:
Organic chemistry - 9th grade
Acids/bases/salts - 10th grade
Elements - 11th grade
Compensation: $800/wk starting rate for block teachers, plus $150 for lab prep compensation per block.
We feel that it is an educator’s responsibility to make the content of the class come alive in the classroom. The applicant must have an enthusiasm for the phenomenological approach to sciences in Waldorf education and a commitment to inspiring the students’ passion for learning through hands-on activities and creative process.
Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Chemistry
Teaching experience in high school
Waldorf high school experience preferred

Spanish Teacher
Tara Performing Arts High School is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate world language teacher to teach Spanish to our students who have elected to take the Advanced Spanish track during their high school experience.
The ideal candidate is comfortable and excited about teaching immersive, conversational Spanish through story, culture, song, and artistic expression. Using a Waldorf educational methodology you will build fluency with your students through use a combination of modeling, repetition, varied practice activities, and practical use, aiming to be able to engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, and exchange opinions. Our goal is for students to gain a deeper understanding of both the language and Spanish and Latin culture, including their distinctive world viewpoints. By graduation, students are expected to be able to understand and interpret both written and spoken language on a variety of topics, and to present information and ideas to an audience. In a one hour class, we expect that the teacher spend less than 10 minutes speaking in English, devoting the remainder of the lesson to bring Latin culture alive, including poetry, folk songs, food, festivals and simple Spanish literature. Classes are small (1-10 students) and our students are eager learners, with many from Spanish speaking families or who travel internationally.
The position is part-time, with three one-hour classes which meet three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00a and 12:30p.
The base hourly rate is $34.00 per hour with increases based on teaching experience and background with Waldorf/Steiner education. Benefits are limited to four complimentary tickets to each run of our student performances.
